Videos inspire new Podcast
Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 04:09PM
I downloaded a program that allowed me to record my screen and wanted to try a small sketch video. Once I got finished, I had the idea to do this on a more regular and turn it into a podcast.
DRAW BLOCK will be a video podcast of 15 minute (give or take) sketches with audio commentary. There will be anywhere from 1 to 5 videos per week. I'll be getting this rolling in the next few weeks. The videos will be much better quality than these 2, as youtube really cuts on the res.
JUNK, the art book is a little behind and I'm putting the final touches on it now.

Great work Scottie, always good to see an artist's process.
What's the app you're using to capture your screen?

That was great, man, thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing more, and particularly to hearing you talk about your thoughts when working with shapes and whatnot.
Thumbs up. Looking forward to it!
cool, thanks for posting and I am looking forward to seeing more
awesome!!! i've been listening to you and the crank boys while I draw... it's great to see you now too! Kick ass skottie! Looking forward to seeing your "JUNK". :P
Yes, fun to watch you doodle. Please keep posting.
I had some problem following your work towards the end. I know many screen capture softwares have a function to make the cursor (or the drawing tools) easier to see (like a block or orange ring etc). Please check if there is something similar in the program you found.
Thanks for sharing the video, Skottie! I love seeing your work in progress.
this was a great idea, I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
Skottie,
That was great! It's good to see some of the tools in action along with your explanation of how you work with the tools in your own style. I smell a great video podcast in the making!

Skottie, best post yet man. Really cool to see how you go about the process and your random thoughts. Can't wait to see some more.

i must recommend Vimeo, its a lot better than Youtube on both ways, res quality and time =)
That was a really interesting watch Skottie. I like your stream of consciousness style narration, it was really funny when Emma kncked your table!
Go, dude.
WWOoooOoAa!!! Cant wait for those videos!! And really really cant wait for JUNK!!
What program did you downloaded? I always wanted to do this but have NO idea.
Finally! I have been waiting so long for you to do a video cast of you drawing some characters. Keep em coming!
Cool idea. I appreciate how accessible you've been and how much time you put into doing these things that don't pay, but entertain those of us that enjoy your work.
awesome videos!
i love watching people draw and its about time we saw you working on stuff....cant wait to see more!
can't wait for the podcast.
Haha, I love it!
But I'm left wondering...who likes to hear Skottie Young talk more? Us the listeners, or Skottie? Dude, your gonna have a different podcast for each day of the week pretty soon!
Either way, it's all good. I really dig your art and look forward to seeing and hearing you talk about it.
Hopefully more artists take your cue and start doing something similar...I think we'd all like to see some of these done by Eric Canete or Ryan Ottley.
i love Sketchbook pro...
it's a pity that it has stopped to work on my mac on the last 3 days... :( :(
